Little Ram

On the 7th of January our younger ewe Tiddles had two lambs, unfortunately the little ewe that she had has died but the ram which was even then much bigger and livelier is doing really well.  Tiddles had some problems with motherhood last year when her ram was born but we both thought she would get used to it. She is not any better this time round, we have to hold her to allow him to suckle and she just constantly pushes him away, after about 3 weeks he has been eating lamb pellets, which he likes, and he does like his food so we don’t worry too much with his mother anymore. She is going to go and become a milking ewe as with milking ewes they don’t keep the lambs with them for  very long which should suit her fine.

Neither of us have taken any pictures of it with a camera as yet, he does look like his mother, with the brown eye patches and brown ears, he also has brown marks on his body but they will mostly go  over the time.

Ewe Ewe is due in a months time she is doing well, getting a little bit bigger but otherwise really good.

I need to have a look at their hoofs make sure they are trimmed up on the soft bedding.

The bees ? Have been having some really strange temperatures with -15 and over for a couple of weeks and than to +6 and rain, very up and down. I try not to go and disturb them.  I will do and listen to them at the end of February just to make sure, but really don’t want to do anything with them or to them.

We had about 15 to 20 cm of snow last night which was lovely, but they are forecasting some rain again next week.

I will post pictures of little ram as soon as I have some decent ones.
