Bees are going mad, …

Its the 2nd of March, and about +11 degrees and my bees are soooooo busy, bringing in lots of pollen, very soft yellow or that is the colour I have seen in their pollen sacks, the main shrubs, trees in flower right now are hazels, there are few snowdrops and  maybe some willows.

I only opened the tops of the hives – the 2 with two boxes are occupying the 6 frames at the top easily, the first one with three boxes is a bit more quieter at the top but looked like the most active one. I have taken the sliding shelf and cleaned it, and also the shelves that I could turn around and allow a little bit of air I did. There were mice droppings in two hives, I also cleaned the grill on all of them, I have not seen any other signs of mice so we shall see.  The time will tell if they are still there I  will see their droppings on the shelf. I don’t really wont to manoeuvre anything as far as the inside is concerned or change the order of the boxes as I think the weather is still not very stable. they are forecasting +8 during the week on and off during the day and not even real minus temperatures during the night, I am going to see and read what my fellow bee keepers are doing.

but I have to say this was my first 2014 bee activity and I am really excited about this year and the prospect of it.

will post any other news as soon as I have it.

Ewe is still on her own, although we think she is going to be with a lamb soon, she still recognizes us and talks to us when we go and see her, still as pedantic as she was last year only does what suits and when it suits. Hopefully she will be a good mother.

all the best for now,

still no more snow, … if its going to continue like this the skiing season will come to an end very soon this time.
